On Monday, July 7, a fire broke out at an apartment building located at 18 Jacobus Place in the Marble Hill section of the Bronx. The fire injured four people, including three firefighters.

Monday’s apartment fire in Marble Hill is a reminder to all of the serious risks fires pose to both residents and firefighters. Fires can cause smoke inhalation, burns, and other injuries, even when quickly contained. Crowded stairways and delayed evacuations in multi-family buildings can exacerbate the situation, making it even more dangerous. Residents may face property loss, displacement, and emotional stress.
