A fire in a five-story apartment building located at 3410 Kingsbridge Ave in the Bronx injured at least 15 people. The fire, which started before 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 18, on the third floor, quickly went to a second alarm within minutes.
Children were present at the day center in an apartment on the fourth floor, many of whom suffered minor injuries, according to the FDNY. The children were taken to nearby hospitals.
Over 140 fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene to evacuate residents and visitors.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
