$160K Medical Malpractice Case Involving Gauze Left in Abdomen During Surgery

Our client was admitted to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, and underwent several surgical procedures under the care of two doctors. In the aftercare, our client followed all instructions for cleaning and dressing the surgical site, and was making a good recovery. Our client was unaware that a piece of gauze was mistakenly left inside of her abdomen until a year later, in 2004, when the gauze was coming out from the surgical site. She was readmitted to the hospital and one of the original two doctors performed another surgical procedure to remove the gauze from her abdomen. This case settled in our client’s favor for $160,000.
